Sitting at Cattlemen’s Congress, watching the heifers in the open show, I thought of how fast the past year has gone by. I remember starting my senior year of high school and thinking I had all the time in the world. And before I knew it, I was graduating and moving to college. Still, I thought I had all the time to enjoy the first semester with friends, but I could not have been more wrong.
For the past year, I have worried about staying busy and being involved in every activity I could do. Between school, various activities, and working with my cattle, I never really stopped to enjoy the moment.
With the new year rolling in and everyone starting their New Year’s Resolutions, I want to remind everyone to save time this year and live in the moment. Remember not to get so wrapped up in everything that you forget to enjoy the little moments. Whenever I catch myself caught up in all my activities, I like to think back to my favorite movie, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Sometimes all it takes is to be a little spontaneity to have a little fun. “Life moves fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” – Ferris Bueller
