At least once in our lifetime we will be on our knees, beat down and just wanting to give up, however, we must find that strength to rise and keep pushing forward. If you get bucked off, we get back in that saddle and ride again.
Some of you may know me and some may not, so let me reintroduce myself. I am Zane Gavette from Everson, Washington and I am currently serving as your NALJA board treasurer. Growing up, we never had the fanciest show cattle or the best equipment, we lost a lot of shows and it was hard because you work hard and do the best you can and hope it will all payoff but in the end it doesn’t. There were so many times I just wanted to quit and never pick up a show stick again, but I was always taught to never give up and keep working and pray that one day it will all work out.
I’m sure many of you were taught to not give up and that is what we need to do, we need to keep moving forward and push through no matter how hard things get, if you don’t know if that steer is going to make weight by fair time, or you are just getting overwhelmed and mentally fighting for a break – you can’t give up, no matter how hard it may be, no matter how hard it is, you need to take that step and push on, not only will you reach your goal but you will be stronger and, with God’s help, you will be able to move forward and conquer anything that tries to stop you.
So, as I conclude, if you’re feeling like your back is against that wall and you don’t know what to do, I hope you can find the willpower to take that step forward and take advantage of the days. Move forward and fight on! I hope to see everyone in Amarillo for another great year of memories at the 2022 National Junior Limousin Show & Congress. I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy and the cattle are staying fat and hairy! As always, God bless.
