Carson is attending Iowa State University, where he is majoring in chemistry and plans to find a career in the field of Chemistry after graduation.

To achieve his goals in college, the Limousin breed has helped Carson by understanding hard work. He explains, “I have shown cattle since I was 6 years old, and I have learned that you have to put in a lot of hard work and early mornings to make your cattle look good and cooperate in the show ring. I know that I will have a lot of late nights studying for tests and that I will have areas where I might struggle with new concepts, but if I work hard I can do it.” His advice to incoming freshmen is to get through the first couple of weeks and then things will get better! The amount of activities available for students to participate in really puts you out there to make as many friends as possible.

Carson’s favorite Junior Nationals experience is the kickball tournament, because there are a lot of people that participate in it and it is a lot of fun with some friendly competition. He enjoys every junior national because it is spending a week with his “extended family.” Carson encourages juniors to get involved in as much as you can and “just do it!” Carson always keeps a deck of cards and poker chips inside of his show box, and an interesting fact about Carson is that he met his best friend through showing cattle!

Congratulations on your scholarship, Carson!
