Do Your Best And Forget The Rest

Written By Boone Begert, NALJA Vice President

Fitness expert Tony Horton has two quotes that have always stuck out to me. One of them is “Never say I can’t, say I presently struggle with instead.” The other is “Do your best and forget the rest.” I feel that these are two very important things to live by.

Not giving up isn’t about avoiding failure or never feeling frustrated. It’s about acknowledging that setbacks are part of the process. Every failure teaches us something new, and every setback is an opportunity to grow stronger. Think about the times in your life when things didn’t go right—yet you kept going. The lessons you learned, the resilience you built, and the person you became wouldn’t exist if you had given up too soon.

Success rarely happens overnight. It’s the product of persistence, effort, and believing in yourself when the path gets difficult. So, the next time you feel like throwing in the towel, remember that sometimes the biggest breakthroughs come right after the toughest moments. Keep going. The rewards are worth the effort.

In the end, it’s not about how many times you fall, but how many times you get back up. Stay strong, stay focused, and never give up on what matters most.
