Setting goals and figuring out who you are as a person is a task that cannot be accomplished without mentors. As young people we often tend to get ahead of ourselves and make decisions based on theory rather than experience. When making a decision in life it’s important to get advice from someone that has experience in what you’re going through. Lucky for you, there’s many experienced individuals throughout the Limousin breed that are always more than willing to take the time out of their day to help a junior.
Throughout my time in this great breed, I have looked up and tried to model many breeders as I’ve come up the ranks. Bruce Lawrence and my grandfather, the late Ken Holloway, are two examples of individuals that I’ve been able to count on for reliable advice. Having individuals to look up to like these two men have impacted my life greatly and there’s countless other breeders with the same caring mindset and relatable expertise regarding all things in life.
My advice to all juniors would be to embrace any opportunity to visit with the individuals in this breed. Make fewer statements and ask more questions, because you never know who you might learn from.
¨God gave you two ears and one mouth, use them accordingly¨ -Ken Holloway
